Essential Responsibilities
-Reporting, Analytics and Technologies - For reporting, this includes leading BI development to ensure quality, ease of maintenance, high level of reusability, and rapid delivery of reports and dashboards. For analytics, this includes leveraging predictive modeling, machine-learning, data clustering and visualization, and algorithms optimization to find insights within structured and unstructured data. For technologies, this includes ability to connect different type of including incomplete datasets using advanced ETL, data modeling, data management, and data quality tools. Monitor performance of existing solutions. Lead retirement of obsolete solutions.
-Data Investigation and Extraction - Extracts data from operational systems, relational and NoSQL databases using advanced SQL, Hive, and Pig through a variety of BI tools. Investigates complex table structures to identify data relationships. Stratifies results to provide meaningful insights. Drive collection of new data and the refinement of existing data sources. Participates in master data program, data security, confidentiality and data quality requirements.
-Work Management - Manages multiple tasks independently with ability to deal with ambiguity and shifting priorities. Directs multiple resources on special projects as required. Communicates status clearly and timely to key stakeholders. Provides accurate estimates for work efforts. Ensure requirements are met on time and on budget.
-Relationship Management - Facilitates collaboration and consensus between IT peers and business data and information stakeholders. Clarifies customer requirements, manages expectations, and enhances business systems credibility and partnership within Xcel Energy and its vendors. Promotes BI usage across the company. Works with vendors to resolve tool performance issues.
-Coaching and Mentoring - Provides thoughts leadership and mentors junior analysts in the area of effective information presentation, advanced analysis, data management, and knowledge of business processes. Supports a team environment of continuous improvement and learning.
-Continuing Education - Takes a proactive approach to understanding industry and utility-specific business issues. Stays abreast of new technology and analytic methods used in the industry.
Minimum Requirements
-Bachelor-s degree in business, information technology or related field or equivalent experience
-10 yrs of technical expertise with databases, SQL writing and optimization, or developing reporting solutions.
-5 years minimum of oil and gas industry experience
-Five years of IT systems experience.
-One year of experience working with distributed computing tools.
-Demonstrated ability to recommend innovative BI solutions to support complex business requirements.
-Excellent relationship management, communication, collaboration, problem solving skills, time management and critical thinking abilities.
