Cuts materials and components to size, using power saws or hand saws
Joins component parts together or attaches components to structure or building, using screws, bolts, nails and hand tools and power tools.
Examines installation site and studies sketches or blueprints to determine materials, dimensions, position, tools, and assembly methods required. 
Lays out components needed to assemble unit to organize fabrication and assembly procedure. 
Measures and marks buildings, piping, and components to determine assembly and installation requirements and procedures. 
Drills holes in components or structure to facilitate installation or assembly. 
Installs electrical and mechanical control mechanisms. 
Installs piping and other plumbing related components, using wrenches, sealants, torches, solder and pipe cutting, threading, and bending equipment.
Mixes and places cement around bases of standards. 
Performs necessary carpentry work. 
Operates completed unit to ensure proper operation and identify malfunctions
Digs trenches or excavates building site, using shovel or ditching machine.
