Job Description

As an education administrator, you’ll be responsible for setting the tone in the schools and for representing that tone throughout the entire state. You’ll be actively engaged in promoting policies that directly affect the success of students in the state. In addition to hiring educational staff, you’ll have the chance to establish organizational learning objectives for classrooms and spearhead the practical application of those objectives. You will also hold the welfare of students in your hands as you work to approve and implement programs to safeguard students while at school, and in many cases, in the community. Plan on participating on academic boards, task groups and community groups.
Job Responsibilities
1. Direct and coordinate personnel activities, such as curriculum trainings, and follow up with evaluations to ensure activities effectively accomplish stated objectives
2. Recruit, hire and train educators and support staff and terminate personnel, when necessary, with the goal of improving educational success
3. Obtain necessary equipment and supplies for operational procedures, oversee necessary modifications based on examinations and balance the use of existing equipment with new purchase costs
4. Plan and administer budgets, maintain financial records and produce financial reports for school expenditures and incoming funds, preparing reports for oversight committees
5. Represent the school at community and off-campus events, during meetings with other academic professionals and during all accreditation processes, and gain support from the community, including financial support in the form of bonds and levies
6. Consult with appropriate regulatory and licensing agencies to ensure compliance with state guidelines and other applicable standards, advising those agencies on the current state of education
7. Coordinate teaching and room assignments to ensure the best use of facilities and supplies as well as compliance with building codes and regulations, arranging for additional space when enrolment exceeds current occupancy guidelines
8. Confer with other academic professionals to develop new curricula and revise existing curricula, introducing educators to new programs.
9. Establish admissions guidelines and support admissions department in recruiting and accepting students to the educational institution
10. Recruit and hire support staff responsible for everyday functions associated with student life
11. Advise students in career paths, course selection and degree determination
12. Strategize ways to improve academic strength of the educational institution
13. Research teaching best practices and implement teacher training programs to ensure educators remain on the cutting edge of learning strategies
14. Encourage student body diversity and maintain high ethical standards for admission practices

Job Skills & Qualifications
Reqiured:
Must hold an administrator certificate
PhD holder in Education
Acquisition of competencies, skills and knowledge as outlined in state administrative rules legislation
Preferred:
Completion of a State Board of Education approved program in administration at the master’s level or higher
Cognate experience in school management
Significant experience in education careers minimum of 15 years’ experience
