REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D. in Earth Science-related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in Mineral Characterization.
Fundamental understanding of X-ray diffraction (XRD), clay mineralogy, mineralogy, geology including sedimentology, and petrology.
Fundamental understanding and experience in XRD laboratory methods and procedures and the ability to improve laboratory capabilities.
Fundamental understanding of quantitative mineral analysis of sedimentary rocks and clay separates by XRD.
Ability to integrate mineral and chemistry data and apply to petrophysical log interpretations.
Familiarity with optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy.
Knowledge of basic core analysis procedures.
Knowledge of additional analytical methods, such as FTIR, mass-spectrometry, cation exchange capacity (CEC), small-angle scattering techniques, and gas adsorption analysis.
Strong computer skills are required which includes Microsoft Office suite and database management proficiency
