Job Description

Legal Counsel – Team Lead: Legal counsel provides guidance on contractual obligations, compliance with laws and regulations, and risk management.
Responsibilities:
Conduct legal research and provide guidance and advice on various legal matters on the project to the company.
Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and policies.
Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Assist in the negotiation and settlement of legal disputes and claims.
Manage and maintain legal records and documentation.
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure legal compliance in the construction project execution.
Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations that may impact the project.
Assist in the development and implementation of legal strategies and initiatives.
Provide legal support and guidance to other departments within the company.
Represent the company in legal proceedings, including court appearances and hearings.
Provide a wide range of advice and counsel to internal clients on legal issues related to construction projects and other matters, including contract terms, risk management, and disputes.
Review, draft, edit, and negotiate legal aspects of construction project and pursuit documents including RFPs, RFQs, bids, and proposals
Review, draft, edit, and negotiate legal aspects of contract documents
Advise project teams relative to legal risk mitigation, risk management, and positioning and pursuit of claims for compensation, time, or other relief or entitlement
Manage outside counsel in connection with dispute resolution proceedings, litigation, arbitration, mediation, claims, discovery, depositions, and document production
Lead subpoena duces tecum matters
Lead claim of lien matters
Lead bond claim matters
Develop and deploy internal tools, processes, and trainings for organizational continual improvement
Other responsibilities as assigned
Skills/Requirement
B.Sc degree in Law.
Proven experience as a Legal Counsel in Oil and Gas environment
Minimum 20 years’ experience in Close-Out Audit for a Refinery or Petrochemical Industry
Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures.
Full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation.
Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies.
High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information.
Outstanding communication skills.
