ROLE SUMMARY:
Develop, create and modify software applications and modules throughout the department. Analyze user needs and develop appropriate software solutions. Design and customize software for specific client use with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency.
ESSENTIAL & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Software development work to be done in the office
Software development utilizing C/C++, C#, SQL
Prioritize and plan work to accomplish goals
Work closely with Hydraulic development team to develop business logic to manage sophisticated numerical hydraulic solver API
Work on developing prototype tools for the hydraulic development team for effective testing of the new application features
Work closely with other developers, QA analysts, product owner and subject matter experts to develop product
Work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
Adapt and respond positively and effectively to change, delay, and/or shifting priorities and goals
Complete projects to release and deployment utilizing knowledge of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle)
Estimate or assist in estimation of software modules to be developed
Provide comprehensive support to internal customers; achieve resolution to outstanding problems or issues
Identifying areas for modification in existing programs and subsequently developing these modifications
Performs unit tests on all software developed and, where possible, produce automated unit tests or testing scripts to aid in future development and regression testing
Documents software development in an appropriate manner consistent with Weatherford guidelines
Identifies impediments to completion of tasks and brings them to the attention of the other team members or manager for resolution.
Learns new skills and areas of knowledge as required to assist in completion of modules/projects.
Assist in the specification or recommendation of other operational or technical activities or requirements related to the deployment of software applications
Multi-task and change from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure
Follows Weatherford guidelines related to the protection of intellectual property and avoiding unwarranted entanglement in non-Weatherford intellectual property.
QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of proven commercial software development experience
Proficiency in WPF/MVVM application development
Strong proficiency in C/C++, C#, .Net (version 3.5 or later)
Proficient in MS Visual Studio (2012 or later)
Proficiency in T-SQL, Linq and MS SQL Server 2012 or later
BS or MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering
Experience using standard development tools - Integrated Development Environment (Visual Studio 2015), Source Code Management (TFS) & Project Tracking System (TFS)
Experience with Scrum/Agile/Waterfall development methodology
Proficiency in troubleshooting software issues and debugging a large codebase
Ability to plan, execute and document technical work and projects
Excellent programming and problem solving skills
Ability to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environment
Strong analytical skills and the ability to pay careful attention to detail
Self-motivated, Detail-oriented, Organized
Strong verbal and written communication skills
BS or MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering
Will accept a Master's +2 in lieu of Bachelor's +5
Preferred
Experience and/or educational background in numerical analysis
Oilfield services or oil and gas knowledge
Working knowledge of drilling and exploration processes
