Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW: 
The Measurement Technician is responsible for measurement programs to ensure the integrity and accuracy of oil measurement and that the frequency, sampling methodology, reporting, and documentation are performed in accordance with State and Federal regulations. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 
Assist in the operation, calibration, and troubleshooting of H2S monitors. Assist in locating and tracking H2S within the pipeline system
Assists in the installation, startup, and calibration of instruments and control equipment and programs computer control equipment
Assists with repairing and/or replacing faulty instruments, safety equipment and controls, and maintains instruments and control equipment in a clean and workable condition
Fill out applicable work/hot work permits, lockout/tag-out documentation, attend and participate in tailgate sessions with others involved in worksite activities
Installation, and maintenance of various brands of flow computers
Installation, maintenance, and calibration of turbines, Coriolis, ultrasonic, densitometers, provers, pressure, temperature and other transmitters used for measurement
Maintains instrument and control equipment data log sheets and computer-based database and preventative maintenance system
Makes routine and emergency calibrations and adjustments to correct abnormal operation of instruments and controllers and reports such conditions and corrective action to operators
Monitor and recognize dangerous and/or emergency conditions within the process and perform procedures necessary to remove the condition or shutdown the process/facility in order to protect personnel, community, environment, and equipment
Perform scheduled calibrations, gas sampling, troubleshooting, repair and installation of Electronic Flow Measurement equipment, specifically Totalflow
Perform tank gauging to measure tank contents and account for product stored and product moved into and out of tanks
Recognize malfunctions in individual equipment and perform maintenance as necessary to correct problems
Take oil samples and perform routine grind outs to measure sediment and water content and determine Quality
Tests, calibrates and repairs safety, control, and shut down devices on a regularly scheduled basis. Develops and maintains such schedules
Utilize proper Lockout/Tag-out operating and safety procedures
Witness and verify third party meter calibrations
Work with coworkers in the response to emergencies requiring coordination, equipment or plant shutdown, and/or evacuation
Write repair work requests for routine and major maintenance that cannot be handled as part of normal operations using a CMMS (MAXIMO)
Knowledge of Plant Operations, Engine & Compressor Operations, Maintenance, and Liquid Measurement
Have an understanding of crude oil measurement, custody transfer, tank gauging, and meter proving
Regular and reliable attendance is required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 
Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent
Minimum of 2-3 years of work-related experience

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES: 
Must have a mechanical aptitude
Interpersonal communication skills are required in order to interface with all affected teams, personnel, and vendors
An organized and detail-oriented self-starter with a strong work ethic
Ability to work self-sufficiently given direction and resources
Ability to think critically, solve problems independently and exercise excellent judgment and common sense
Intermediate computer skills (Proficiency in MS Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
