Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
 
Manage processes and procedures for fulfilling the mandate of Office of the Ombuds
Provide employees with a safe, confidential resource to address work-related questions or concerns
Facilitate "informal" mediation to allow employees to address issues with a neutral party
Develop and manage the informal means to resolve work-related concerns effectively, quickly, and fairly
Manage confidentiality of the information and prevents unauthorized disclosure or access to records
Assure anonymity for employees reporting illegal activities or violations of Company compliance, environmental, safety and health policies to the Office of Global Ombuds
Prepare and present reports to management with sensitivity and confidentiality
Counsel different levels of management to ensure awareness of type and extent of problems occurring
Proactively counsel and influence management on strategies to address recurring workplace problems while preventing any communications from breaching confidentiality or anonymity
Exercise discretion whether to act upon an individual's concerns and may initiate actions directly on problems he/she perceives. With employee's permission, research facts and provide informal mediations
Partner with the team to deploy a global communications strategy (in-person, brochure, Web) that informs and educates the client base of availability and purpose of Ombuds office in addressing workplace questions or concerns
Adhere to The Ombudsman Association Code of Ethics and Chevron's standards of practice. develop and extend professional competence by completing courses in mediation, dispute resolution, and other relevant training
 
Required Qualifications: 
Bachelor's degree holder
Minimum 5 years Ombuds, human resources, mediation or other related industry experience
Demonstrated supervisory/management experience
Demonstrated experience handling a wide variety of employee and employment issues
Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentations at all levels of the organization
Models the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct in all business dealings and communications
Well-developed planning and organizational skills including multi-tasking and time management
Extensive knowledge of employment law, and industry and organisational practices

 
Preferred Qualifications:
   Demonstrated mediation / dispute resolution experience
Excellent team player and self-starter with drive and resilience
Demonstrated confidentiality, sound judgment, tact, discretion, and professionalism
Demonstrated ability to quickly and effectively build trust and rapport with all levels of employees
