Position Overview: The Civil Engineer for Refinery Construction and Infrastructure Audit is responsible for overseeing the design, construction, and maintenance of civil and structural components within a refinery project. Additionally, this role involves conducting thorough audits of existing civil infrastructure to assess its condition, identify potential issues, and recommend improvements for safety, compliance, and efficiency.
The engineer will collaborate with the construction team, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to ensure that civil and structural elements meet regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Refinery Construction Phase: a.) Review civil and structural design plans, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements. b.) Provide technical support during the construction of civil works, including foundations, concrete structures, steel frameworks, roads, and drainage systems. c.) Conduct regular inspections to ensure that civil and structural components are installed correctly and in accordance with design specifications. d.) Collaborate with the construction team to address any civil engineering-related issues and provide effective solutions.
Infrastructure Audit: a.) Perform comprehensive audits of existing civil infrastructure within the refinery to assess its condition, integrity, and compliance with safety standards and regulations. b)Evaluate the performance and stability of structures, foundations, roads, and drainage systems. c.) Identify potential risks, hazards, and areas for improvement and develop actionable recommendations for optimization and enhancement. d.) Prepare detailed audit reports, including findings, analysis, and proposed remedial actions.
Compliance and Safety: a.) Ensure that all civil and structural elements meet relevant building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards. b.) Collaborate with the safety department to implement and promote best practices for civil construction, maintenance, and operational procedures. c.) Participate in safety assessments and risk assessments to proactively identify and address potential safety concerns.
Documentation and Reporting: a.) Maintain accurate records of civil engineering activities, audit results, and project-related documentation. b.) Prepare regular progress reports and status updates to keep project stakeholders informed of civil engineering activities and findings.
Project Management: a.) Assist in project planning and scheduling, providing input on civil engineering requirements, resource allocation, and timelines. b.) Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of civil and structural components into the overall refinery infrastructure.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Advanced degrees or specialized certifications in relevant areas are advantageous.
Experience: a.) Previous experience minimum of 15 years’ experience in civil engineering within the refinery, petrochemical, or heavy industrial sectors. b.) Strong knowledge of civil and structural engineering principles, practices, and materials commonly used in refineries.
Knowledge: a). Proficiency in relevant civil engineering codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ACI, AISC, ASCE). b.) Familiarity with refinery site development, grading, and foundation design.
Skills: a.) Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail. b.) Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical information and recommendations to diverse stakeholders. c.) Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Certifications: QMS(ISO9001:2015, PMP, NSE, COREN are mandatory.
