Job Description
Supervise welding procedure qualifications to be employed at Site and the qualifications of the welders operating within the plant, according to Project specifications and standards;
Check that Field welds comply with Project specifications;
Check the execution of non-destructive tests and heat treatment; that all repairs are performed correctly and non-destructive tests are regularly repeated;
Keep a report file for all non-destructive tests and heat treatment performed;
Obtain any necessary approval for changing, as appropriate, welding procedures and for performing repairs requiring special procedures;
Monitor non-destructive testing examination results to determine defects, corrosion, mechanical damage, or blockages and makes recommendations for repairs or replacement as required.
Perform or monitors all types of equipment inspection
Perform or monitors all tests and inspections on equipment that has been repaired or modified to assure that the equipment meets the manufacturers
Perform or monitors all necessary inspections for the installation of hot tap, weld plus ends repair sleeves or any welding that is required on piping or equipment while in service.
Monitor the heat treatment of piping, vessels, and equipment.
Witness hydrostatic and/or pneumatic tests on static equipment which includes the review of Hydrostatic, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams as well a Safety Instruction Sheets to assure that the correct pressure is used, the system is isolated properly and that relief valves are properly set and installed.
Perform welder performance and welding procedure qualification records reviews
Monitor all aspects of welding operation on new or existing equipment
Qualifications;
HND/BSc or COMPANY approved equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Senior Welding Inspector
CSWIP 3.2, or alternatively:
CSWIP 3.1, or AWS CWI, or CWB CSA W178 LII, and ASNT, PCN or CSWIP Level II in RFI.
Paint Inspector ERS Level II or NACE Level II.
Valid ASNT, PCN or CSWIP Level II qualification in UT (minimum Plate and Pipe).
Has (or has had) ASNT, PCN or CSWIP Level II in MPI or DPI.
Valid Visual Inspection certificate:
Preferred certified to API 570 or API 510 course & examination
10 years in oil & gas or related industry in Maintenance Inspection & NDT of which 5 years as Senior Inspector in a supervisory role.
Other Requirements
Comprehensive working knowledge and experience in welding inspection, NDT techniques, corrosion & condition monitoring and inspection surveys of existing oil/gas installations and equipment.
Working knowledge of materials testing, preservation techniques.
Skilled and experienced with computers & MS software programs,
Experience in QCS on (maintenance) welding & repair techniques.
Working knowledge of oil/gas processes, and piping, risers, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, structures, lifting, and drilling equipment.
Ability to work with electronic gauges and data loggers, like Pan. 37DL, EPOCH 4and others of the same category.
Good communication, training and leader skills.
Prepared to participate actively in the inspections (hands-on).
