Job Brief
We are seeking an entrepreneurial-minded with a minimum of fifteen years of public accounting experience, preferably with a focus in tax. We are looking for an Oil & Gas Tax Partner to lead our client service teams. The ideal candidate must possess strong technical knowledge of federal and state tax planning, consulting, and compliance related to master limited partnerships and private equity with respect to oil and gas production and public accounting. In addition to the preparation and review of tax returns, the Partner will assist the chairman in identifying client issues and developing communications for presentation to clients and financial managers. Candidates applying must demonstrate strong written and oral presentation skills, conduct research on various client issues, and oversee Managers, and Senior Associates. Additionally, s/he will participate in the professional growth and mentoring of Consultants, Senior Consultants, and Managers. Potential candidates must have experience managing employees and managing multiple engagements in accounting in the oil and gas environment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
The Tax Partner will direct the tax functional area of a major business segment of IPMC. In this role, you will translate concepts, develop strategy, implement change, create programs responsive to the external environment, and participate in cross-functional business and cultural development. Direct the tax strategy, planning, controversy and operating responsibility for IPMC
Minimize the business' tax cost, while complying fully with the laws of all relevant jurisdictions, and help drive growth
Partner closely with the Financial Consultants and other business leaders to ensure that they understand and implement the requirements for achieving the business’ tax objectives, and drive business growth and success
Provide guidance to ensure tax is properly taken into account in bid and decision-making processes
Tax planning
Maintaining client relationship
Provide guidance to the IPMC deal teams on structuring and negotiating asset acquisitions and dispositions, including documentation of transactions and managing outside tax advisors
Ensure flawless execution, controllership, and risk management of all transactions and structures for assigned area of responsibility
Leverage technical resources within IPMC HQ and provide support HQ-driven projects and initiatives
Coordinate with the IPMC Tax Controller with respect to internal and external reporting of taxes, payments of tax liabilities, the conduct of tax audits and overall management of tax risks and opportunities
Essential Skills and Requirements:
He should possess excellent knowledge of the principles and techniques of the tax procedures and must have a deep understanding of regulations and tax policy
He should be able to demonstrate exceptional time management and organizational skills to ensure timely completion of the project.
He should be an excellent team player with strong communication skills, Attention to Detail, Reporting Research Results, Thoroughness, and Presentation Skills, to be able to convey the audit tax details in a clear, concise manner.
He should be proficient in computers and must be able to retrieve, maintain and update any tax-related data whenever required.
He should have the ability to work under pressure and meet the deadlines by assuring completion of the project that is compliant with the tax and IFRS standards.
He should be able to maintain complete confidentiality related to the tax aspects.
He should have the ability to lead and supervise the team to perform the tasks assigned to him.
He must be a team player and open to learning, act with integrity and inspire trust
Educational Qualifications and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent as well as a professional certificate in accounting (eg. ACCA, ACMA, ICAN, etc.), and a professional certificate in project management (PRINCE2 or PMP)
At least Fifteen (15) years of relevant Tax experience in project monitoring and evaluation in oil and gas projects is definitely preferred.
Familiarity with oil and gas sector financial management systems in government and multilateral operations.
Comprehensive computer skills with practical knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Word & Excel) and MS Project.
Knowledge of procurement, project monitoring and evaluation, and contract management procedure in oil and gas projects would be considered a merit.
