Technical Control Designs Specialist

Job Description:
-Evaluate technical adequacy and cost-effectiveness of power projects.
-Review procurement and project management arrangements for said projects.
-Evaluate management capacity and governance arrangements.
-You should have general experience and overall competence, specifically relevant to the task that is to be undertaken.
-Strong institutional capacity and capability in terms of technical, managerial, expertise, quality management system, and financial soundness.
-Assist in the supervision of projects in the portfolio which are under implementation or in production to ensure appropriate technical quality and consistency with project objectives.
Requirements:
-Minimum 10-15 years of working experience in the energy sector. Such experience may include work as a project manager in an engineering consultancy or as a lenders’ engineer undertaking project implementation or work on feasibility studies in the energy sector as well as sector and management analysis.
-You should have experience in assignments of similar nature and complexity in construction management and supervision of substations [132/33 kV and above], including review of design, supervision of EPC contractor’s quality, schedule, environmental, safety and health compliance, verification of equipment quality, and certification of variation orders.
-Experience in assignments of similar nature and complexity in construction management and supervision of substations in the sub-Africa region would be a plus.
-Evidence and certification of quality and environmental management 
-Favorable consideration will be given to extensive experience working in the infrastructure operations or the management of infrastructure projects, including experience in contract management and administration, planning and programming of capital and maintenance works and institutional reforms.
-Some work experience in developing countries could also be positive.
-Familiarity with various types and schemes of energy activities and development in general and in-depth knowledge of at least one type of energy activity in particular.
-Strong organizational and project management skills to perform day-to-day management of a large and complex portfolio.
-Master’s degree or equivalent in related fields from a reputable university, particularly economics, energy engineering (all types of relevant energy and power, i.e. fossil-based, various kinds of renewable, generation, transmission, distribution) related.
