Environmental Sustainability Workshop for Manufacturing Industry 2024

In recent years, the manufacturing industry has witnessed a fundamental shift—a move beyond pure profit maximization toward a dual mission of profitability and sustainability. Organizations now recognize that their actions impact not only their bottom line but also the health of society and the planet, and that this has become a risk to their businesses and economic growth.

Nigeria, like many other countries, is increasingly recognizing the importance of sustainable practices in manufacturing. As Nigeria continues its industrial development, integrating sustainable practices is now crucial for a healthier future. This involves adopting resource-efficient technologies, reducing waste, taking initiative on climate and environmental-friendly value chains, taking responsibility and staying compliant with regulations, laws and standards. While this yields a lot of opportunities for growth, many industries are facing challenges of balancing economic growth while aiming towards sustainability.

To support in addressing this, and in line with Nigeria’s May Day 2024 Celebration themed “People first”, Independent Project Monitoring Company Limited (IPMC) in partnership with the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) and the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) are partnering to host this strategic workshop which aims to bring together key stakeholders in this sector to discuss pressing environmental challenges in the industry, and regulatory compliance, and also, explore sustainable solutions.
